Greetings!

First I'd like to acknowledge the people that come to the shows AND the people that hire me!

I usually don’t get to say much at the shows and between sets I try not to talk to much as to save my voice, but now…….these are words from my heart.

Music is an interpretive art form, it is ultimately up to the listener to say whether the artist is “speaking” to them. Who is better or worse is a silly way to express what music is, I have always found a lesson to be learned from every musician or artist that I have had the pleasure to know or be around. I myself prefer the more primitive stylists and artisans whose renderings are more from the heart than from the hand and mind. I take that a step further when I think about my audience, I aspire to be part of the crowd as I perform. I am always open to be in the moment, this is why I rarely work from a set list. I learned by watching and listening to the great entertainers of the past whether it was on tv, radio, from the audience, or on the rare occasion that I was sharing the stage with one. I was always struck by the mutual respect and loving symbiosis that I saw, the exchange of energy, amazing!

I never take those people who come to see me play for granted, yes there are times when I am more circumspect, and there are also times when I am racy and unpredictable but I always try to get my cues from the good people in the audience.

I respect and love all those who are committed to playing music, all styles and disciplines, and I am happy to encourage and to accept encouragement from others who work in the arts. I am equally as inspired by, singers, dancers, comedians, jugglers, painters sculptors and anyone who is in the world of expression.

I sincerely thank each one of you who have given me the honor to share music with, you all have made one mans dream come true.

Peace,

Joey
