Butterfly
Here I am, the butterfly
Colors abound, I the majestic one=
Caress your eye
And when I’m done
away I fly
So demure I don’t even try
To impress or even notice
As I hear you sigh
My apparent lack of focus
Makes you question
Why such beauty?
As this butterfly
You know my story
Yes, I once was invertebrate slime
Oozing across the morning glories
But that is the past my friend, got no time
To dwell in the facts so gory
Yes I share the skies
With moths, mosquitoes, and flies
But let me pose this question to you squire
Can you think of any other bugs that you admire?
One that you would let land on your daughter’s finger
Or whose lifeless form would make you linger
Yeah I didn’t think so
So here’s what I’ve got to say before I go
I’m colorful, gentle, gorgeous, and special
Uhhhhh!
I’m a butterfly…Okay?…..Deal with it!
